A designer’s first collection for a brand is pretty important. We fashion press, and also the consumer, can ascertain a brand’s new direction from it. And when the brand has a long history, the collection is even more important, about whether the designer has decided to go with a carte blanche of sorts(as with Nicholas Ghesquiere at Louis Vuitton) or if they are attempting to pay homage to the designs that came before them. And so we have Stuart Vevers’ first collection for Coach.

With an eye towards luxury, and moving the brand towards that end, Vevers’ has designed the perfect debut collection for his tenure at the brand. A must have shearling-lined suede and leather wedge ankle boot as well as ribbed printed sweaters come in the collection alongside biker jackets and leather mini skirts. That move toward luxury comes with stocking in Net-A-Porter which has already sold out of a few pieces like a pair of leather-trimmed shearling mittens and a leather and suede tote.

Vevers himself comes from the brand Loewe and took inspiration from Coach’s American vibes. That turned into lots of leather as well as a leather trimmed houndstooth wool-blend parka and even a satin-twill bomber jacket. In the following slides we’ve picked out some of our favorites from the collection. Find it on Net-A-Porter.
