The Real Reason You Saw This Dress EVERYWHERE
If you’re a big blog follower then last weekend you saw this dress everywhere. It was scrolling up and down your timeline on blogger after blogger, styled this way and that. It appeared in a few blog posts but was definitely all over your Instagram tagged #DesignLab and @LordAndTaylor. You know you saw it.
But why exactly did it appear so many times? Why that dress, why that weekend? I mean it’s cute but that cute? No my friend, this was a concerted effort. Lord and Taylor made up a listing of bloggers and sent them not only the dress but compensation to help spread the word about it by posting it online to all their followers. No restrictions, just posting and spreading the word. And they did!
Well Lord and Taylor got what they wanted. The dress subsequently sold out! So you’re going to see it a lot more. And though Lord and Tylor or the bloggers may find themselves in trouble because of the FTC guidelines that strive for clarity in sponsored or paid content. As none of th bloggers disclosed in the Instagram posts, there could be some room for trouble here. But until that happens, things are looking on the up and up for the store.
