The Secret To Flawless Hair, Skin & Makeup Is Only $8

Last month, I took a much needed vacation that ended up being educational. The destination was Dubai and the weather got pretty unruly.
Imagine the shock my skin was put through after going from a winter chill to summer heat in less than 24 hours–can you say “breakout?!” However, instead of freaking out, I chose to maintain some chill and enjoy the fact that I was far away from work and makeup-free.
Fast forward through a few days of beach lounging, obligatory sight seeing and sleep (!), and of course, my tan just wasn’t where I wanted it to be. However, after rummaging through my boyfriend’s kitchen cabinets, I circled back to a bottle of coconut oil, which he uses for cooking.
Thank the beauty gods for Google because I soon discovered that it’s one of the most versatile products you’ll find at home. Not only did I slather it on at the beach; it’s also an amazing makeup remover, hair conditioner and skin moisturizer. The best part about my discovery? It’s only $8! Flawless skin and hair for the price of lunch is something you just can’t pass up.

What I Love:
*When used as a makeup remover, it literally all of the work is done for you. Simply scoop a spoonful of coconut oil over your face, lather, rinse and watch your foundation fall into the sink. Also, it provides a smooth, clean surface for primer the next morning.
*There’s no sticky mess after. When used in moderation, coconut oil is a great alternative for your favorite body lotion.
*Tans on fleek! Unlike most SPF products, coconut oil is all natural. It protects the skin, prevents peeling and produces a tan in record time.
*If you have stubborn hair that tends to frizz, a dime size amount of coconut oil will smooth out messy strands and provide added moisture. I never go without it before and after a bikram yoga class.
What I Don’t Love:
*Organic coconut oil usually comes in a solid form, so refrigerating can get annoying. The good part is it can go from liquid to a gel-like form pretty quickly.
*Sometimes the smell can be a little nauseating, but that’s just a matter of preference and your mood.
SBs, are you ready to add coconut oil to your beauty routine?
