There’s Some Major Changes Going On At ‘Lucky’ Magazine

It hurts us to say this, but things aren’t looking so good over at Lucky magazine. First there was the news that famed editor, Eva Chen, was departing, followed by the cancellation of their biannual blogger conference. And now the popular monthly glossy that always brought smiles to our faces will sadly be getting reduced.

According to Adweek, the shopping publication will be decreasing its print frequency to a quarterly magazine – which means no more monthly issues giving us the latest affordable trends (sad face). The May issue will be the last that we’ll see until September, when a more “premium, collectible” book will be released.

“The shift to a quarterly matches the consumer habits and also offers a unique value proposition,” Josh Berman, CEO of The Lucky Group, told Adweek.

The company’s new direction will also come with a round of layoffs expected to include about 10 employees. But with the disheartening news, there is some good to pull out of it: in the next Lucky issue, we can expect upgraded paper stock and even better content! Not to mention, the major shift will give the brand more time to focus on the digital side of things.

We’re hoping that this season is just a minor setback for the popular publication, with better news to come in the near future. So until we can get a peek at the upgraded September issue, we decided to take a look back at a few covers we can’t forget.
