Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette

When I first posted about this on Instagram I made a throwaway comment about it being your “Summer in a palette”, however, the more I’ve used the Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette, the more I’ve come to realise that it really is a full wardrobe of eye looks that perfectly fit the Summer months – I would even go as far as to say that this would be the one palette I’d take away with me if I were off on hols this year.

The Too Faced Sugar Pop palette is a glorious collection of nine eyeshadows, broken down into three looks, although obviously you can mix and match to form whatever look you fancy.

As with all the nine pan palettes from Too Faced, it comes presented in a very pretty package – Sugar Pop is adorned with macarons – and contains a mirror and a fold-out guide book teaching you how to create the three looks.

Starting with the top row of colours named Sweet & Spicy, you have Rock Candy – a lightly shimmering pale yellow/nude, Macaron – a strong (rather than bright) burnt orange with shimmer and Malted Milk Ball – a mid to deep browny bronze shot through with golden shimmer.  This is the most wearable of three looks as it contains the most neutral leaning colours.  It’s also the one I’m wearing in the pictures as per the enclosed guide, with Rock Candy from lash line to brow, Macaron on the eyelid and Malted Milk Ball as a line along the upper lash line.  I’ve also added a line of a blend of Macaron and Malted Milk Ball along the lower lash line too.

Second line down we have Sugar Plums which contains Strawberry Ice – lilac shot through with silver shimmer, Sugared Violet – a beautiful almost metallic purple-leaning blue and Blackberry – a matte and murky aubergine shade.  How gorgeous are these three? I especially love the fact that these are all shades that can add subtle hits of colour to other more nude looks, plus they’re very smoky and very versatile.

The last row is the brightest of the bunch called Candy Coated which starts with the base colour of Peach Fuzz – as the name suggests, a peachy shade with white shimmer, Bubblegum – a brilliant mid-to-deep pink with gentle shimmer and finally Blue Raspberry – a bright, aqua / turquoise shade.  This tropical trio make me really lust for a holiday somewhere hot and sunny where I can lounge around by the pool.  There’s something wonderfully clashy that just works when bright pink and turquoise are put together – although it’s definitely a look more suited to Majorca rather than Margate…

The palette contains your easy everyday shades in Sweet & Spicy, your smokier shades in Sugar Plums for the perfect evening smokey eye and your bright party shades in Candy Coated, which is why I’d say it’s an extremely versatile palette, made even more attractive by the fact that it hasn’t relied on typical and traditional shades.

The Sweet & Spicy look is particularly flattering on blue eyes and/or tanned skin, I think.  The heavily orange toned Macaron makes blue eyes pop (such a cliche, but it’s true) whilst the deeper brown of Malted Milk Ball enhances a golden glow.  I really rate the Too Faced Sugar Pop palette as something that can gently persuade anyone who relies on their nudes and neutrals to try a bit more colour experimentation without going too far overboard.  The Too Faced Summe releases are generally gorgeous with some very exciting face palettes too, so definitely have a look! The Sugar Pop palette is £26 here –  – although this is the American site where you’d need to import it.  I believe it’s going into Debenhams soon if you want to hold on for that instead.
