What’s Your State’s Swimsuit Style Of Choice?
Here’s a newsflash for you: We women folk are very particular when it comes to swimwear.
To prove this, the good folks at T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s did a study of their customers concluding that 70 percent prefer a one-piece swimsuit. By geography, they found that women in the mid-west like retro suits, while California, D.C. and Maine ladies prefer bikinis.
Loaded with this information, we needed some insight. Thankfully, style expert Jene Luciani was on hand to explain these numbers.
On the best swimsuit for a stomach-self conscious woman: “The stomach is the hardest area to tone and the fastest place women show weight gain, so it’s no surprise that 70 percent of states prefer one-piece swimsuits. If you’re self-conscious about your stomach area, opt for the one-piece trend, such as halter, sporty, and retro styles.”
On must have separates you love for the beach: “It’s not only about the bathing suit when you plan a day at the beach –-cover-ups and sandals can be your best friend too. Higher cut leg openings elongate the legs and when you’re strutting poolside, consider wearing a designer nude wedge or sandal to give you better posture, booty boost, and legs for days. Sarongs are perfect for creating a flattering shape in the front and can also double as a towel! On why women are loving retro suits this season: “The retro bathing suit trend is actually the second top style uncovered in the survey and definitely has made a huge comeback this year. It helps camouflages the stomach area. The strategic ruching around the middle ultimately creates a leaner silhouette.”
