By all accounts, Bruce Jenner is a loving and compassionate father to his teenage daughters Kendall and Kylie. However, Brody Jenner, Bruce’s 29-year-old son from his previous marriage to Linda Thompson, says that wasn’t always the case.
“The way I see Bruce with Kendall and Kylie and Brandon, I’m actually so happy for them,” Brody says in a preview for the June 9 episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” obtained by Us Weekly. “I think Bruce is an incredible human being and I think that Bruce is an incredible father — he just wasn’t a great father to me.”
In the clip, after a family lunch Brody tells Bruce, “It’s interesting to watch how you are with the girls, because it’s like, something I’m not really used to. You weren’t around since I was a kid and it’s like …”
Bruce cuts Brody off, saying, “Now’s not the time to talk about it.”
Kris Jenner opened up about Bruce’s decision to be a more doting father with his younger kids in a 2012 Esquire profile of Bruce.
“You’ve got to remember that this is my second life,” she told Esquire. “I was a housewife and a mother; that was my priority for the first half of my life. Now, after my first litter grew up, I had two more kids with Bruce, and he wanted to be really involved, and I went to work. He made that decision, because with his first kids, he maybe wasn’t the best father. With us, he got a second chance.”
