It looks like Nicki Minaj isn’t the only musically talented person in her family, her mother Carol Maraj is stepping onto the music scene with her soulful and upbeat pop track “What Makes You”. With its sun-kissed, EDM-laced beat, it’s the perfect song for all things inspirational. Mama Carol, as she’s affectionately called, has emerged with a feel-good anthem of the summer as the lead and title track for her upcoming EP. Drawing on her gospel roots and history surviving domestic abuse, Carol is dedicating a portion of the profits from the song to CMF, The Carol Maraj Foundation, for the advocacy and aid of victims of domestic violence. And for all those asking what her famous daughter thinks? Let’s just say Nicki knows a hit when she hears one. “My daughter, being extremely busy with her personal life was not very involved in the process,” Carol shares. “She thought it was a nice song.”
