Cop Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend’s Puppy

Alec Eugene Taylor, a 5-year veteran of the Baltimore Police, was arrested after choking and beating his girlfriend’s 7-month-old puppy and texting her a photo of the dead dog. He was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, which is a felony, and abuse or neglect of an animal.

Montgomery County Police say that Taylor’s girlfriend called them on Feb. 28, claiming that he had killed “Rocko,” her pet Jack Russell Terrier. She allegedly told police that Taylor texted her, saying the dog pooped on the carpet and he killed it.

Taylor told his girlfriend that he beat the puppy with a mop and threw it in the trash can. However, Animal Services say that he forced the dog from behind the dryer with the mop and then choked it, which is more conducive with their autopsy findings.

He was suspended without pay from his job, and the department issued a statement, “Allegations of animal cruelty are taken seriously by the Baltimore Police Department. Over the course of the last year significant emphasis has been placed on developing and training investigators to handle animal abuse incidents in Baltimore.”
