If you were anywhere near the surrounding area of Brooklyn this weekend, then chances are AfroPunk Fest had something to do with your agenda. The eleventh annual festival took place in Brooklyn’s own Commodore Barry Park, lasting its usual two-day length. And let’s just say, the celebration delivered when it came to feasts of musicians and performances.
Leading ladies like SZA, Lauryn Hill and Lion Babe hit the stage, while standout performances from Grace Jones and Kelis – she debuted her chic baby bump, BTW – made everyone grab their phones. But more importantly, the dose of black culture was definitely at an all-time high. Festival goers brought intense fashion, major dance moves, and even better #SQUADGOAL moments.
