Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt Sings New Songs "Lo" and "La" For a Dog Named Lola

The Magnetic Fields‘ Stephin Merritt recently wrote a book of short poems based on the 101 two letter words that Scrabble officially recognizes. 101 Two-Letter Words came out last year, and early this year, Interfictions commissioned Stephin to create two short original songs based on two of these poems. Merritt chose to create his short songs around the words “lo” and “la”, in honor of Interfictions’ Arts Editor Henry Lien’s dog, a rat terrier named Lola.

“Lo” and “La” are performed by Stephin Merritt (vocals, ukulele) and Sam Davol (cello). Lola, the dog, appears just for show.
