MGK Speaks About Macklemore’s Success

MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) spoke about fellow hip hop star Macklemore and his success in crossing over to a pop audience. During the interview with Hot 97, MGK said that he takes a different approach as compared to the Seattle rapper.

“He played the game,” MGK said of Macklemore. “He’s a game player. You know what I’m saying? I make my own rules.”

“I don’t even put color on it,” MGK said. “I feel I’m under-appreciated in hip hop period. You know what I’m saying? I’m better than Black, White.”

“Ultimately, I want to be the voice of my demographic and this generation,” MGK said later in the interview. “And I want to do that without selling my soul or having to die to prove my point.”
