Nas Praises Current State of Rap; Names Favorites Out Right Now (@Nas)

Although Nas is usually very vocal about his disapproval of the state of hip-hop, like saying the “realness” is dead and even naming an album of his “Hip-Hop Is Dead”. In an interview with Talk Stoop back in November 2013 Nas said “Today [Hip Hop] lost integrity. It’s lost meaning. It’s lost it’s love which is why I made a Hip Hop Is Dead album.” But in a recent interview with Bossip, Nas actually had some good things to say as well.

When asked about the state of hip-hop and how he feels about the direction it’s headed in Nas said, “It’s going where it’s supposed to be going in 2014. It’s going in a great direction.” When asked about his favorite rappers at the moment Nas said, “Mac Miller is my man. [Who’s killing it now?] [Drake]. Kendrick [Lamar]. J. Cole. It’s a couple good fellas out there that I’m feeling.”

What do you think about Nas’ recent comments about hip-hop? Do you agree with his recent take on it? Or do you much rather side with Nas’ “hip-hop is dead” stance? Chime in below!
