Salvation Army Worker Assaulted for Saying ‘Happy Holidays’

For some people, the ridiculous “War on Christmas” is a perceived genuine threat to the beloved holiday, and it’s enough to drive them violence.

That’s what happened at one Walmart in Phoenix, when a bell ringer for the Salvation Army was assaulted for saying “Happy Holidays.”

Kristina Vindiola was manning a red kettle for the Christian charity when she greeted a shopper on the way into the store with a hearty “Happy Holidays.”

“The lady looked at me,” Vindiola recalled to ABC15. “I thought she was going to put money in the kettle. She came up to me and said, ‘Do you believe in God?’ And she says, ‘You’re supposed to say Merry Christmas.’”

The woman then punched her in the arm and entered the store like it was no big deal. Vindiola reported the assault to the store manager, who called the police. Unfortunately, they were unable to do anything for lack of evidence.

The Salvation Army says they have no policy on which greeting should be used by their charity workers; it’s completely up to them.
