A 16-year-old girl named Tia claims she was physically violated by an inmate while on a school sponsored tour of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico back in September. It’s unclear exactly why Tia and a group of her classmates were even sent to the prison for the tour, but she claims that one inmate groped her, hit her, and verbally abused her at one point during the tour out of the view of security cameras.
Local news station KOB has obtained the security footage, which doesn’t show the specific incident. Tia and her father believe that it is strange that the cameras were not focusing on the students at the time of the alleged assault due to the fact that they have the capabilities of recording almost every angle of the space they were in. Tia and her father also believe the inmates behave “accordingly” when they know cameras are on them.
