The 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards aired Tuesday night, and as usual, the cyphers were one of the most anticipated parts of the nights — more specifically, TDE’s round, and even more specifically, Kendrick Lamar’s verse.
Most people would agree that K-Dot didn’t disappoint, going at Drake when he spat, “Nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes.” “Your sh*t never penetrates/ Pin the tail on the donkey, boy you been a fake.”
But the Compton emcee also went after the whole pack, rapping, “I’m the master that masturbated on your favorite emcee,” and finally ended the cypher by crowning himself “King Kendrick.”
Twitter has been going crazy with folks weighing in on the performances, and the consensus pretty much seems to be that Kendrick Lamar was indeed king of the cyphers. However, some people are showing love to A$AP Mob and Slaughterhouse’s turns as well.
