August 8th, J.I.D Ushers In A Bold New Chapter With “God Does Like Ugly”

In the wreckage of rhythm, beauty lurks in what they call ugly. Atlanta’s lyrical firestarter J.I.D breaks the silence with the announcement of his fourth studio album God Does Like Ugly. Slated for release on August 8, the album’s title alone signals a shift toward something rawer, less polished, and deeply personal. The announcement is paired with an official visualizer that blends dystopian flair with southern grit, inspired by Mad Max and The Warriors, all refracted through the lens of Atlanta’s underground mythology. J.I.D shared:
Starting this new journey coming off ‘The Forever Story’ has been a very strange, productive yet tedious process. This is the first step into a new world that I control. And. It’s. F*cking. UGLY.
Coming off the critical triumph of The Forever Story, J.I.D dives headfirst into a world of creative chaos—his world—and invites listeners to witness his unfiltered evolution. His most recent track, WRK, is a three-minute lyrical clinic produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Pluss and longtime collaborator Christo, showcasing J.I.D’s masterful flow and wordplay as he sets the tone for this new era. Until then, pre-save the album here and prepare for one of the most anticipated hip-hop albums of the year. Follow J.I.D on Instagram, X, Youtube, Spotify, and TikTok.
