Lexa Gates Puts Love On Hold In Hypnotic New Single “Latency”

Lexa Gates returns with a sultry new single, Latency. The Queens-born singer, rapper, and producer casts a spell with simmering vocals and a magnetic piano loop sampled from Hamilton Bohannon’s Tell Me You’ll Wait. Produced by Grammy winner Jasper Harris and Aaron Shadrow, “Latency” captures the ache of desire suspended in time. Her latest release embodies that space with equal parts anticipation, tension, and understated confidence. The music video, directed by Gates herself proves once again that her pen is sharp, her vision clear, and her presence magnetic. Lexa explains:

Being around all these rich older men sparked a curiosity in me. It’s a tale as old as time. It’s a sexy fantasy of a love left on delay

The track arrives fresh off the second leg of her Elite Vessel Tour, which saw sold-out crowds in Philly, Atlanta, and Orlando. Her debut album Elite Vessel, featuring Zelooperz, Alé Araya, and Billy Lemos, sparked a viral art installation in NYC where Gates spent 10 hours in a transparent box, confronting fame and connection head-on. This weekend, Lexa hits the stage at Governors Ball in her hometown of Queens, continuing a landmark year that includes festival appearances at Capitol Hill Block Party, Jazz Café (UK), and Outside Lands.
