Momo Boyd Brings Precision “Big Country” & Personality “Oops” To Vevo’s Live Studio Stage

Momo Boyd achieved technical perfection in Live From Vevo Studios performances of Big Country and Oops, bringing fresh life to two standout records from her debut EP Miss Michigan. The New York-based vocalist, songwriter, and producer steps into Vevo’s intimate performance setting with remarkable confidence. Drawing from a musical foundation rooted in classical, gospel, and jazz traditions, she navigates both songs with elegance while preserving the individuality that continues to separate her from many of her contemporaries. “Big Country” benefits from her precise commanding presence, while “Oops” highlights her ability to balance vulnerability with personality. Momo allows the strength of her voice and interpretation to carry the performance. She explained to Rolling Out:

I just want to start the conversation with people, get them used to my alternative ways of doing things, and my alternative ways of writing, or dressing, or singing. I understand that I’m a bit different than what you might typically see in the mainstream or in the pop world, or R&B world. And I love that, and I think that’s one of the things that keeps me going, is my love for doing things slightly differently, and how I think it’s such an important thing for people who look like me to know that you can do things slightly differently and be celebrated for them. Get ready, understand that this girl is here, she’s here to stay. She’s got something to say, and whenever you think you know what to expect, it’s not gonna be that.

The stripped-back visual environment removes distractions and places the spotlight squarely on her artistry. This sense of identity has become central to Momo Boyd’s emergence as a solo artist. Many listeners first discovered her through Infinity Song, the Roc Nation-signed quartet where her musicianship helped build a devoted audience. Yet Miss Michigan demonstrates a creative voice distinctly her own, blending thoughtful songwriting with a willingness to challenge expectations. Boyd has openly embraced being different from conventional pop and R&B templates, whether through her songwriting, fashion choices, or vocal approach. The sessions reinforce why she earned a BET Award nomination and why her solo trajectory continues gaining momentum.  If you’re just discovering her, watch as “Big Country” and “Oops” serve as an introduction to Momo Boyd, because the story is only beginning to unfold.
