Official Documentary Teaser, The UMC’s: Staten Island’s Forgotten Sons

Hip Hop iconic group The UMC’s release a teaser from their upcoming documentary “The UMC’s: Staten Island’s Forgotten Sons.” Haas G and Kool Kim came onto the scene prepared to put Staten Island on the map and they did just that. The group became the first rap group to emerge from Staten Island, the first rap group out of Staten Island to appear and perform on Soul Train, and the first rap group out of Staten Island to chart No. 1 twice on Billboard. The trailer shows snippets of when The UMC’s came into the music scene, their takeover, and the impact they have on today’s rap game and Hip Hop culture. In a recent interview, Kanye West shared how excited he was to buy a cassette tape with his allowance when he was younger, and his choice was ‘Fruits of Nature.’ The look of star-struck is clear on will.i.am’s face when he mentioned being a huge fan of the group to a reporter and went on to add how The UMC’s heavily impacted his career. Each week tuning into the Martin show, you can see a full-size ‘Fruits of Nature’ album poster on the living room wall. With an undeniable and unmatched influence on Hip Hop, The UMC’s vow to keep full steam ahead. Watch the trailer and prepare for the full documentary coming out soon.
