Brooklyn’s L’or Tackles On The Issue of Mental Health with Her New Single “Falling Under” | @theegold_

Brooklyn’s R&B/Pop artist L’ôr will be releasing her blazing new single “Falling Under,” a feel good Alternative R&B track letting the world know how to overcome Mental Health and/or Depression. L’or states that “Falling Under” was the hardest for her to write.

In the Black community, mental health has always been some sort of taboo due to the negative stigma surrounding the issue. Instead of seeking professional help for conditions such as depression and anxiety, many in the community resort to drugs, opioids, alcohol or isolation in an attempt to solve their problems on their own.

It’s interesting to read that African Americans living at or below poverty are three times more likely to report serious psychological distress than those living in poverty. We are also 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the rest of the general population, but the harsh truth still remains that many Black people are still in denial, shame, or lack knowledge on the subject.

The multi talented artist is deciding face the issue head on with not only her inspirational track, but also a campaign for Mental Health Recovery’s PSAs that have been developed by the U.S Department of Health and Human Service and the AD Council. The campaign PSAs are targeted particularly to high school and college-age youth-who can make a difference by reaching out to friends and family members to get help when they need it. Suicide, is the third largest cause of death for young people age 18-50, usually involves mental illness.

Her goal is to feed the masses and make a mark in the culture with her musical skills. All L’ôr’s music is personally driven by her own life story. After all, who can tell it better than she can?

“Falling Under” is available for pre-order now on iTunes. The single drops February 1st.

(Audio) Lomel – It’s Over @lomelsworld

Lomel takes the breakup song in different directions with “It’s Over”

Massachusetts artist Lomel’s pain over a real-life breakup is tangible on his new track. “It’s Over” cuts straight to the heart lyrically, eschewing pretty sentimentality for the reality of divorce. Lomel sings about how amazing the relationship was while it lasted while also making no secret of the fact that even once-loving couples can come to detest the sight of each other, which rings true because of how real it is.

When speaking of the song, Lomel says, “I wrote this song thinking about the relationship me and my ex-wife had and how it’s all over now… I wanted to make sure anybody else going through something similar could relate.” The song reflects this desire, with production by Ian Christian that merges melancholic piano with soaring strings, all underscored by a strong beat, perfectly completing the way Lomel’s voice oscillates from melancholic yearning to serious confession. This is the perfect song to put on when thinking about a broken relationship. Lomel might want to help listeners move on, but “It’s Over” proves that he’s a musician people should stick around for.
