André 3000 to Co-Star in Season 2 of "American Crime"
André 3000 will star in the second season of ABC’s anthology drama “American Crime”, Billboard reports. André Benjamin will play Michael Lacroix, an architect and one-half of a power couple (his wife Terri is played by Regina King). The season’s arc traces the couple’s fight to defend their son when he becomes entangled in a scandal at an elite private school.
“American Crime” is an Emmy-nominated anthology directed by John Ridley. The second season’s narrative follows an incident at a Midwestern high school that sparks discussions about gender issues, sexual orientation, and sexual identity.
Ridley and Benjamin previously collaborated on the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side, in which Benjamin played Hendrix.
“Personally, I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with Andre,” Ridley told the Hollywood Reporter. “He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All Is By My Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by Andre’s performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It’s fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration.”
