Pusha T has been named the president of G.O.O.D. Music, the Def Jam imprint founded by Kanye West

In an interview with Billboard, Pusha said Kanye offered him the position with the intent of bringing a “very manicured” approach to the label. “I always look at it as an opportunity to help the team and I think that artistically, me and Kanye have the same vision,” he said. “I’m not out here shooting in the dark, doing any and every thing.”

Pusha also talked about whether G.O.O.D. Music would put out another compilation similar to 2012’s Cruel Summer. (“I have that on my mood board.”) He said he’s had “different conversations” with the artists, and said it might be easier to get Kanye involved now that his responsibilities have been reduced.

“I think we’ll be getting the best out of him, executive producing projects that come from the label from here on out because he gets to really hone in as a producer,” Pusha said. “I’ll take care of all the logistics, the rallying of the troops, and so on and so forth. He don’t gotta be producer, A&R, rapper and everything.”

Additionally, he said he’ll release songs from his next solo LP—which is called King Push—before the start of 2016. “My album is just a whole other thing in all honesty,” he said. “F’real, what you’re gonna get from this King Push album is something people probably haven’t heard in the past 18 years. I’m just putting it together, aiming for classic material.”

In addition to Pusha T, G.O.O.D.’s current roster includes Q-Tip, Big Sean, Kacy Hill, and Teyana Taylor.

It’s harder to wake up when you have mundane ish to do. Unveiling a brand new music video, Young France recruits UK Indie sensation Master Peace for huge new track Wake Up. Life becomes easier when you’re on the path to becoming a rockstar. The music video, shot in the UK, follows Young Franco and Master Peace individually, through a first-person lens as they undertake “mundane” daily activities until they then meet and begin to enjoy the iconic streets and taxis of London together. Franco spoke on the track:

Working with Master Peace has been an amazing experience. I found out about his project via his record “Eyes on You” and have wanted to work with him since that moment. I was writing a bunch of tracks in 2020. One of them being an early version of Wake Up, which I wrote with Elliot from Delta Riggs. I connected with Master Peace online and once I got to London last year, we smashed this in a couple of hours. His new record is fantastic and I’m super excited how this one turned out. Special mention to Danio from Husky Loops for some added production too.

Young Franco has started 2024 off with a bang, where he teamed up with UK rapper S1mba for the release of the funk laid hip hop track HITA. Wake Up follows a busy year of touring already, where he has done a sold out run of Europe with a string of sold-out shows in the USA. Young Franco has accumulated over 200 million streams and plans to continue to put Astralwerks Records on the map. Stream your copy of the single here and watch the dreamlike visual below.
