Roger Mooking, Celebrity Chef and Hip Hop Luminary, Sets the Stage on Fire with “It’s My Birthday”

Published

on

After the widely praised launch of his latest hit single, “Stuck on Stoopid,” Roger Mooking, a Juno award-winning luminary in the world of Hip Hop, with a remarkable discography boasting five albums, and acclaimed as a celebrity chef, visual artist, and the charismatic host of Food Network/Cooking Channel’s hit shows “Man Fire Food” and “Everyday Exotic,” now treats us to his latest uplifting track, “It’s My Birthday.” This motivational anthem is a sneak peek from his highly anticipated sixth studio album, “SOUNDBITES,” set to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, dropping on October 20th. Notably, “SOUNDBITES” will serve as a musical backdrop for Roger’s upcoming book, “Curious Sounds,” slated for release on October 24th.

About “Its My Birthday,” Roger Mooking States: “Its My Birthday” (no apostrophe) is a fundamental piece in the arc of the SoundBites album adventure. It bridges the idea that being born is like waking up every morning and the lyrics straddle this idea with every line. The approach in instrumentation, writing, delivery and production is purposefully simplistic as we are (re)entering the world with limited baggage. I personally celebrate my birthday every morning with gratitude and with the goal of creating something. Also, I wanted to make a birthday song as this is something I’ve never done…until now.”

Wisconsin Artist T the Pharaoh Releases New Single “Cyber Chase”

Published

on

We all know the music business is hard. We know that. But don’t tell that to Wisconsin artist T the Pharaoh.

His path to music has been one of the toughest in the Madison independent scene. Now we aren’t saying this because of his life, upbringings, or past. Take the personal out if and look at it from the business side. This kid has worked so hard to the point of going to
college, working a job, interning, and signing to Midwest distribution house Local Traffic Only, only to have to take a break from being an artist and his dreams so that he could earn his degree. There are few artists in rap that we can say especially independently that have taken their desire to be in the music business to the college level.

His new single “Cyber Chase” showcases what he’s been learning and passion to be an artist on a high level. Blasting 808’s come screaming in the beginning of the track, then his smooth melodic voice comes in with the hook. It’s a reminder of Calboy. The song is about getting what you want. About the thrill of chasing your dreams and this song is very reminiscent of what T the Pharaoh has been working on his whole life to create what he’s building now. It’s exciting to see where T the Pharaoh will end up with this but his work ethic and his sound only can elude that we will see him doing major moves in the near future.
