What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Aaron, but I go by Newby. I’m a hip hop artist from Toronto.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

The Boy is the last thing I released visually from my EP. The story alone I find is very fitting with the visuals. I wanted to show viewers my versatility and range in music. I still have a few videos I’m working on from this project that I am super excited about.

What is unique about you and your music?

I think that I bring a quirky take to hip hop. I’m able to tell stories that listeners can visualize and make good use of vocabulary. I feel I can bring something different to every project I work on. And generally I feel like my image fits everything related to my music. I think it has a very genuine feel to it.

What shaped your music?

My experience was mainly shaped by my upbringing, through inspirations growing up such as. Growing up, my mom would play her favourite music from back in the day and put me on to classics like Al Green, Earth Wind And Fire, Whitney Houston. Being the youngest sibling, I was able to experience many different eras of music such as the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Before I was doing music, I was heavily focused in film and production. So I chose to bring them together as I am 100% involved in my music video productions as well. It’s something I explored as a hobby and it evolved into a passion. I’m convinced I have to continue and see where I can take it.

I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop, which includes R&B, Pop and Rap. I’ve grown up listening to classic artists such as Biggie, Mariah, and MJ. Over the years I’ve found and been introduced to many different types of sub-genres as well, which plays into my musical influences.

What inspires you to write music?

I’ve enjoyed writing, ever since I explored different techniques. It’s usually a thought or an experience , but either way, I like to write it like a story. I have many different types of songs that go with different moods.

What do you do when you don’t do music?

When I’m not doing music, I’m still doing something related to the business/ my career. So I’m planning out video shoots, managing my press, networking, editing, and getting caught up in many hobbies I wish I had more time for.

Happiness to you is?

Happiness to me is being free, honestly. It’s both a mental and physical thing. I need both.

What I wish I was told Starting

Plan everything out in advanced!

Tell us about your upcoming projects.

My next project will be from my EP: Bishōnen; Monkey Business. I have a few more videos to release before moving on completely, but I do have a few unrelated projects in the works that I’m excited about getting out there!

Where to find me:

All of my work can be found on my YouTube Channel: www.YouTube.com /NewbyMusic OR on my website www.rudeboy.ca

Any last words?
