Guided by Voices‘ Robert Pollard‘s Ricked Wicky project released Swimmer to a Liquid Armchair, their third album of 2015, last Friday via Guided by Voices Inc. Today comes the video for “Poor Substitute”, directed by Mike Postalakis.
Inspired by Andy Warhol’s “Screen Tests”, the video depicts Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, “The Daily Show”, “Ballers”), Nate Cordry (“Mom”, The Invention of Lying), Matt Jones (Badger from “Breaking Bad”), and Seth Morris (“Childrens Hospital”, Step Brothers), all doing their best Pollard impressions.
Postalakis previously directed the Corddrys and Jones in Guided by Voices’ “Planet Score” video and Rob Corddry in GBV’s “Bad Love Is Easy to Do” video.
