Tom Scharpling and Jon Wurster (the drummer for Superchunk and the Mountain Goats) stopped by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last night. They discussed their excellent new box set Scharpling & Wurster: The Best of the Best Show and shed light on the project’s weirdest characters, which include a doo-wop lover named Spike who periodically called in to ask, “Where’s Debbie?” and a 63-year-old self-help author named “The Gorch” who claims to be the real-life inspiration for the Fonz.
