Exclusive Interview with Music’s Next Star – Black Keef

In a world where genres often define an artist, Black Keef refuses to be confined. Blending elements of alternative, hard rock, metal, and hip-hop, he carves out a sound that is raw, unfiltered, and deeply personal. With a mission to connect with listeners through shared struggles and emotional expression, Black Keef is making waves with his unique artistry. In this exclusive interview, he dives into his evolution, influences, and what’s next for his musical journey.

Q&A with Black Keef

Q: How would you describe your style and sound to someone who has never heard your music?
Black Keef: I would describe my style as raw, unfiltered, and edgy. It’s a mix of alternative, hard rock, and metal, but with hip-hop influences due to my upbringing. If I had to compare it to anything, I’d say it’s in the realm of Linkin Park—a fusion of heavy instrumentation and emotional depth.

Q: How has your style evolved since you started?
Black Keef: I’ve grown a lot since I first started making music. My vocal range and control have improved, my songwriting has become more refined, and my creative expression has expanded. Early on, I boxed myself in as more of an “emo” rocker, but now I create based on whatever emotion I’m feeling at the moment. That freedom has allowed my sound to evolve naturally.

Q: What message or impact do you hope listeners take away from your music?
Black Keef: My music is fueled by depression, self-awareness, and the idea of using art as a form of healing. I want to reach people who are struggling mentally and emotionally, to let them know they’re not alone. If my music can help someone navigate their darkest moments or simply make sense of their emotions, then I’ve done my job.

Q: Are there any misconceptions about you as an artist that you’d like to clear up?
Black Keef: Yeah, I think some people assume I’m just a rapper, and while I did start out rapping at a young age, my love for music has always gone beyond that. I’ve been a die-hard rock fan for over 25 years, and my creativity isn’t confined to one style or genre. I’m an artist and musician, and my sound is a reflection of all my influences.

Q: What’s the story behind your latest project, and what sets it apart from your previous work?
Black Keef: My latest project is a collection of mixed emotions. While it was born from darkness, it also reflects my triumphs within that darkness. It’s about recognizing my talents and using them to help others through my music. What sets it apart is the composition and subject matter—I continue to grow, and my music evolves with me. It’s the story of a man lost in a confusing world, trying to find his way out of the abyss.

Q: If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Black Keef: That’s too easy—Linkin Park, hands down, especially with Chester Bennington. They’ve been my favorite band for as long as I can remember, and their music helped me through some of my darkest times. Chester’s passing was devastating, and I would give almost anything to create a song with the original Linkin Park.

Q: What’s your favorite song you’ve created, and what makes it special to you?
Black Keef: As far as released music, my favorite song is The Abyss because it marked the beginning of this entire journey. It was created when I was in a dark place, and it was my first real step into expressing myself in a way I had never done before. That song gave birth to Black Keef, and without it, none of this would be possible. However, my absolute favorite song is an unreleased track called Love, which will be dropping this year. It captures raw emotion and explores the rollercoaster that is love—it’s unlike anything I’ve done before.

Q: Can you share any upcoming projects, performances, or surprises fans can look forward to?
Black Keef: I have multiple singles and an EP/album dropping this year, along with a crazy collaboration called Auburn with Excel Beats aka Excel The Artist, a super talented producer and artist from LA. Right now, I’m focused on creation mode, but I plan to start locking in performances in the second half of the year. As for surprises… life is full of them, and I’m no exception. You’ll just have to stay tuned.

Conclusion

Black Keef is an artist who refuses to be placed in a box. With a genre-blending sound and a commitment to emotional authenticity, he is carving out his own lane in the music industry. His music is more than just sound—it’s an experience, a message, and a connection to those who need it most. As he continues to evolve, fans can expect powerful storytelling, raw emotion, and boundary-pushing artistry.
