Mádé Kuti Questions Purpose & Progress On “Life As We Know It”

Can we grow while grooving? That’s the question echoing in the latest single from GRAMMY®-nominated artist Mádé Kuti brand new track Life As We Know It. Serving as the bold first taste of his upcoming solo album Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From?, this urgent, brass-laced offering tackles excess and identity with satirical edge and irresistible rhythm. Kuti fuses Afrobeat’s fiery pulse with psychedelic hues and jazzy detours, constructing a soundscape that asks as much of your mind as it does your body. Describing the song as a groove-rich reflection on indulgence, distraction, and personal accountability, Kuti says:

I was driving with my wife, tapping out beats on the dashboard when this came to life.

As he explains, this song and the upcoming album don’t aim to preach but to provoke, stirring listeners into deeper questions about what it means to be happy in a fractured world. The single arrives with a hypnotic visualizer that mirrors the track’s layered energy. From the swirling brass to its cyclical percussion, “Life As We Know It” carries the emotional and sonic complexity fans have come to expect from Kuti. Set for release on July 25 via LegacyPlus Records, Chapter 1 continues the legacy of Afrobeat with fresh urgency.
