Artist Watch: You should keep your eye on the Soulful Songstress “LIVe” & here’s Why!

Published

on

With a hauntingly enchanting voice, an impeccable and diverse fashion sense, and an ability to not only showcase talent but find and cultivate it, DMV-based singer/songwriter LIVe (pronounced Livie) is an artist to watch in 2022. Though she hasn’t been on the Music scene very long, releasing her first single, “Not Perfect,” in March 2018, she has wasted no time trying to find and perfect her sound into something unique and fascinating. LIVe can go from this ethereal-like vocal range that sounds like the ghost of lovers past whispering your pain to you to a smooth-talking, bar-spitting, lesbian lothario that can talk your girlfriend out of her pants without breaking a sweat.

LIVe is Giving off major flavor in this all-red drip!

LIVe always has been involved in music; as a child, she sang in the church choir and recitals at school. Her musical inspirations are as diverse as her style ranging from R&B legends like Whitney Houston to Pop/Rock stars like Post Malone, and you can hear both in the way she approaches music. Now I have to be fair and say she is still rough around the edges. You can listen to her song creation and performance progression from her first single to her latest, but she is not in her final form yet. That is not a knock on her, quite the opposite, actually; if what she has out now for us to hear is any indication, then it is very likely that with the right guidance and mentoring she could be a major player in the Alt underground music scene.

LIVe isn’t just resting her laurels on making music; the soulful sex symbol has many hats one of which is being a fashion model. LIVe has done numerous shoots and is in the talks with multiple black-owned clothing lines to model their merch and bring more eyes to their brands. Earlier this year she also partnered with music engineers Michael Ogu and Daquon Jamison to create a record label that not only gives artists the platform to acheive their dreams but also housing services, if the artist is homeless or struggling with living arrangements. Back on the music tip she also has her first collaborative single dropping later this year called, “Vibe” which features verses from Vici & Ni333. This young queen isn’t stopping until she reaches the top and thats exactly how it should be.

If you want to give her a listen, I suggest starting with “Stockholm” this song is such a vibe and something we can all relate to, loving someone who hurts us constantly and being unable to leave even though you know you should. Comparing this to Stockholm syndrome is very creative, and her ghost-like, wavy vocals pluck at your heart strings. After you listen, check out “Night Owl.” This track has significant Drake/Nav energy, and she captures the aggressiveness of a dominant woman and the sensuality of a more feminine woman. Lastly, give a listen to “Not Perfect.” Her debut single, though from 2018, still holds up and is a vibe today. Make sure you follow LIVe on all social media platforms and keep your eye on her because she is an artist to watch this year!
