Detroit artist Rixh Prez is switching gears and showing a different side of himself in his latest single “BAE.” Known for his reflective, street-rooted storytelling, Prez steps into a more lighthearted lane this time around—one made for the ladies, the laughs, and the moments you want to remember.
“‘BAE’ was inspired by me just having fun being a lady’s man,” Rixh tells 24HipHop. “I just wanted to give women something they could feel—whether they classy or ratchet.”
That vibe flows heavy through the visual, which came together off the strength of a regular day. “The vision behind it was just me fitting in my normal day and shooting a video,” he says. “My jeweler and my cameraman came up with the theme on the spot.” That cameraman? Masalis—who’s shot most of Rixh’s visuals and knows exactly how to bring his energy to life. “He made it what it is.”
The goal was clear: create something that made women feel good. “It was important for the females to have fun and know that real men still take care of good women,” he says. And even though Rixh kept things smooth, he didn’t hold back on personality either. “There were a lot of bloopers. I’m naturally silly, so I had everyone laughing.”
Lyrically, “BAE” keeps it real too. “All them bars came from real life,” he admits. “I feel like all females wanna be provided for or get some good love—but sometimes it makes them crazy,” he laughs.
Sonically, the track marks a shift for Prez—one he’s not shying away from. “It was something different from my normal music, but it’s something I’ll continue to do.” While he’s not calling it a strip club anthem, he can definitely hear it on the radio. “It’s made to have fun with.”
Even with the success of the record, Rixh doesn’t let numbers get to him. “I try not to pay attention to all that. I keep my head down and get to the money,” he says. “There’s so much music out—you’ll get lost. The only way I can stay pure is just by being me.”
This release also shows a softer side of the artist, who usually doesn’t include women in his visuals. “It showed another layer of me. I just hope they enjoy it,” he adds.
But “BAE” isn’t the end goal—it’s part of a much bigger vision. Raised in Detroit, Rixh Prez got into music by telling stories pulled straight from real-life experiences. His lyrics often touch on pain, loyalty, ambition, and growth. His name? A mix of self-worth and presidential thinking. “Rixh Prez” is more than a moniker—it’s a mindset.
When asked how he cuts through the noise of Detroit’s heavy music scene, he keeps it simple: “I stay in my own lane.” His creative process is rooted in feeling. “I don’t overthink it—I just go in, catch a vibe, and let it come naturally.”
He’s heavily involved in every part of his rollout—from visuals to overall aesthetic. “I’m building a brand that reflects me—music, visuals, fashion, everything.” And while he’s proud of how far he’s come, he knows there’s more to prove. “The mission is just to keep making music, hit every category, and grow the brand even bigger.”
With “BAE”, Rixh Prez proves he’s not just a one-note artist—he’s a storyteller, a vibe creator, and a real one who’s staying true to himself in every move he makes. Follow Rixh Prez: https://www.instagram.com/1rixh.prez/?igsh=N2VqMjV6OHJpbzg5 https://www.youtube.com/@1rixhprez
