Ogee1523 Talks New “Never Too Late” Album, Plans For The Future & Influencing The Bronx

Published

on

Rising Bronx Rapper Ogee1523 is making sure authentic Hip hop stays alive. With a fresh, new album out, titled Never Too Late, he is reminding listeners that it is never too late to pursue your dreams and goals in life. Being an encouraging, uplifting rapper, puts him in a lane of his own as his lyricism only continues to grow with each release. One record from this album that stands out the most is track 8 titled “Get Em Up” featuring Fat Man Scoop. Ogee is bringing the heat and has no plans on his fire burning out anytime soon. I caught up with him for candid conversation about his new album, plans for the future and his influence on the Bronx. Check it out below.

What inspired your new Album Never Too Late?

The direction that Hip Hop is taking is not for the best. I just wanted to put the fun back into
Hip-hop and want people to feel good when listening to my music. Whatever you
do, you should feel good while doing it. If you are having a bad day and listen to my music, I want that bad day to turn into a good day. Music is therapy, and therapy helps you feel better. That is what inspired me to make this fun, feel good album.

What was the process like for you completing this album that was different from the others?

This Album has 13 songs compared to my last EP, which only has seven songs. The process for this album was simply putting the right songs together. I wanted to put more dance music and more anthems on this album, like “Getting Em Up” featuring FatMan Scoop produced by Q-Banga The B. C. E. which is a birthday song. There is a Birthday celebration going on every day all around the world. “I Feel Good Today” is another anthem. Everyone should feel good. You can be the one who is signing the checks or the one who is mopping the steps. Either way it should not matter what you do. You should feel good while doing it.

Is there a message in this album you want your audience to know about?

Yes. There is a message to everyone, especially the older audience. The message is that you are never too old to pursue your dreams and it is never too late to make your dreams a reality. Never sit back and think bad about yourself. If you are feeling sad or depressed for any reason, go outside and walk around. Don’t just sit at home and let yourself go. Whatever it is that you
like doing, put it in your mind and do it; make it happen. My message is to get out and start enjoying yourselves.

Where do you see yourself by the end of 2022, and what do you hope to
accomplish?

I see myself continuing to put out good music for the people to feel good and having the older people feel young again. I am really hoping to see my songs climbing up on the Billboard charts one day. I would also like to be nominated for a Grammy, if not win one.

What is next for you? Are you planning to release any new music, go on tour, or participate in any summer shows?

Yes, I’m working on new music now to release in summer 2022. I’m dropping my next single,” I FEEL GOOD TODAY”, featuring Q-Banga, in May. I just recorded a song “YOU & ME” featuring 2x Grammy award-nominated and 3x Apollo Winner Mr. PETAWANE and Produced by DAYZEL TheMacine (D-Block). On May 3rd, 2022, I received a citation from the Bronx Borough President, Ms. Vanessa Gibson, and the HipHop Blvd Team.

This summer, I am going on a 10 city tour with the HipHop Blvd Team. After that, I come
back to my city and put on a 1523 family affair concert with my family and friends. I don’t know if I want to drop an EP this summer or just drop singles until my next album in 2023. I have not decided yet.
